Clean School Bus Program Infographics
The EPA Clean School Bus Program's goal is to decarbonize the U.S. school bus fleet by replacing as many diesel school buses as possible with low-emission buses. This series of infographics demonstrate how propane-powered school buses are a much better option than electric to meet those goals.
A second round of almost $1 billion in Clean School Bus Program rebate awards was announced in January 2024. Nearly all the money went to 2,675 electric school buses, but could’ve been more impactful by using the same amount of money to replace 32,100 diesels with propane buses. As detailed in these infographics, the economic and environmental benefits of propane buses are clear, making decarbonization more achievable and offering near-zero emissions without compromising the financial sustainability of school districts.
