Today’s high-tech thermostats offer everything from Wi-Fi connectivity to automatic temperature adjustment. Does that mean they’re a better choice? In ACHR News, reporter Jen Roby asks HVAC contractors when smart thermostats are a good fit — and when a basic thermostat would be better. “Senior citizens are one example,” Peter Kusterer, IAQ specialist at Air Comfort For Homes in Raleigh, North Carolina, tells her. “I got a call from a manufacturer to go out to see a woman in her 80s who just had a new system installed and couldn’t get any heat. I drove out there, and nobody had explained to her how the thermostat worked. She looked at me and said, ‘I just want heat.'” While propane space heating can help a home feel more comfortable, make sure you choose the right type of thermostat for your project.
