Get Paid $7,500 a Vehicle to Run Propane Autogas
Qualified fleets can receive $7,500 for up to five eligible propane autogas vehicles, plus up to $10,000 for site prep when fueling infrastructure doesn’t exist. In return, you run the vehicles on your own routes and share performance data. Applications open September 21.
Why PERC Is Paying Fleets to Run Propane Autogas
The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is funding a nationwide evaluation of how propane autogas performs in real fleet operations — not on a test track. Qualified private corporate and commercial fleets receive compensation for putting eligible vehicles into service and reporting how they perform.
Run your vehicles on their regular routes and duty cycles, just like any other vehicle in your fleet. Once a quarter for one year, you report fuel use, maintenance costs, downtime, and reliability. The data will help build a clearer picture of propane autogas performance across a range of fleet applications. When the year is up, the vehicles stay in your fleet.

Up to $47,500 for Your Fleet
Receive $7,500 for each of up to five eligible propane autogas vehicles, plus up to $10,000 for site prep when fueling infrastructure doesn’t exist. In return, simply report real-world operating and maintenance results quarterly for one year.

Most of what fleets ask comes down to three things: whether you qualify, what you have to report, and when you get paid. Those answers are below. If your situation is not covered here, talk to a fleet expert — eligibility questions are usually settled in one conversation.
-
Does my fleet qualify?
-
If you run a private corporate or commercial fleet in the United States, you can apply. School transportation, municipal, and transit fleets are not eligible for this program.
-
Which vehicles qualify?
-
New propane autogas vehicles and conversions of eligible gasoline vehicles qualify. For conversions, vehicles must be two model years old or newer with fewer than 50,000 miles; program rules apply. Priority is given to Class 3–7 fleet applications. Funding cannot be used to replace an existing propane autogas vehicle.
-
How much can my fleet receive?
-
$7,500 per eligible vehicle, for up to five vehicles, plus up to $10,000 for site prep when fueling infrastructure doesn’t exist. For a qualifying fleet with one site, that is up to $47,500.
-
What do I have to report?
-
Once a quarter for one year, report the following for each funded vehicle:
- Miles traveled
- Propane autogas consumption
- Propane autogas and gasoline consumption for bi-fuel vehicles
- Fuel prices, where applicable
- Preventive and unscheduled maintenance events and costs
- Common maintenance issues and component replacements
- Total maintenance cost per mile
- Vehicle downtime
-
Why is PERC collecting this data?
-
Fleet managers ask what propane autogas actually costs to run over a year, in operations like theirs. More documented, real-world data is needed. This program builds that record — real-world performance, cost stability, maintenance and reliability across a variety of corporate fleet applications.
-
Can I submit diesel or gasoline data too?
-
Yes, and it is useful. If you have historical maintenance and downtime records for comparable gasoline or diesel vehicles, send them. It’s optional, but it can make your propane autogas results easier to understand in context.
-
We already run propane autogas. Can we apply?
-
Yes, if you are adding eligible propane autogas vehicles. What the funding cannot do is replace an existing propane autogas vehicle with another one. Additional rules apply.
-
Should I buy or convert a vehicle before I apply?
-
If you’re purchasing a new propane autogas vehicle, apply before you buy. Once approved, order the vehicle within 30 days and put it into operation within 30 days of delivery. If you plan to convert an eligible gasoline vehicle you already own, different requirements apply.
-
How do I get started?
-
Complete the online application with information about your fleet, operations, proposed vehicles, and fueling plans. PERC reviews your submission and contacts you about next steps. If you would rather talk it through first, a fleet expert can tell you in one call whether it is worth applying.
