There are five types of propane autogas refueling options: standard private station, advanced private station, temporary, mobile, and public and private service networks.

On-Site Refueling Solutions

Permanent Refueling Infrastructure

  • A centralized operation, the fuel is delivered to your facility by a local supplier.
  • Purchase fuel in bulk for the best price.
  • On-site refueling includes large capacity fuel storage tanks (1,000-gallons) with a pump, meter, and one or more dispensers.

Standard Private Station

  • Fleets with less than 50 vehicles may be best for a standard private station that includes a 1,000- to 3,000-gallon tank, plus a single propane autogas dispenser.

    • You or the propane supplier own the infrastructure.
    • If you own it, the infrastructure, you purchase the propane tank, pump, motor and dispenser.
    • If the supplier owns the infrastructure, you are only responsible for site preparation costs.

Advanced Private Station

  • Large fleets with 50 or more vehicles may opt for an advanced private station that includes: a high-capacity tank (1,190- to 30,000-gallons), canopy, and multiple fuel dispensers.

    • Either you or the supplier owns it.

    • If you own it, you pay for the canopy, propane tank, pump, motor, and dispensers with a card lock and vehicle tracking capabilities.
    • If the supplier owns the infrastructure, you are only responsible for site preparation costs.

Temporary Refueling

  • Good for fleets in process of building a permanent infrastructure.
  • Setup includes a dispenser, pump, and fuel storage tank mounted on a mobile trailer.
  • A local propane supplier owns the equipment and the fleet refuels using a tank and dispenser.

Mobile Refueling

  • Best for fleets without an infrastructure.
  • A local propane supplier delivers and refuels fleet vehicles on-site with a delivery truck.

Public and Private Refueling Networks

Propane autogas is still an option even if you don’t have enough space for an on-site refueling infrastructure. Public and private refueling networks are accessible 24/7 through a card lock system — and best of all, they require no infrastructure investment on your part. Go to propane.com/where-to-buy/find-refueling-station/ to search for propane autogas stations in your area, along with open hours — when a key card isn’t needed — and payment options.
