Everyone has been there: You turn the shower on, wait for it to heat up, and get in only to find that the water is still freezing cold. Or, you’re washing your hands and the water isn’t warm until you’re almost finished. If your home has a conventional tank water heater, these might be everyday occurrences.
But you don’t have to fear cold showers or cold hands any longer. Tankless propane water heaters can save you from the shock of cold water and save you money.
Conventional tank water heaters are large and cumbersome appliances that are usually installed in a remote part of a house. When hot water is needed, cold water runs through the tank and is heated. However, this process is not efficient and could be costing you money. The water held in the tank must be kept within 10 degrees of the unit’s thermostat setting, which means the unit can be heating, cooling down, and reheating throughout the day, even if no one is home.
Tankless propane water heaters only heat water as needed. Cold water flows into the unit, is heated by a propane burner and is then delivered to the home on demand. It supplies a nearly unlimited amount of hot water and can easily support multiple appliances. Once the hot water is shut off, the unit turns off and no longer uses energy until the next time hot water is needed.
