Propane autogas buses are driving the future for schools by saving more funds for students — all while delivering the performance that districts need.

LOWEST TOTAL COST-OF-OWNERSHIP

Propane autogas buses save more money from purchase to retirement of the asset. That’s because this proven fuel allows districts to cut expenses they would otherwise have with diesel buses, like expensive fuel, and additional fluids and filters. Unlike diesel, propane autogas performs cleaner without the aid of costly particulate filters.

  • No volatile pricing.
  • No additional fluids or particulate filters.

MORE UPTIME

Propane autogas is trusted to keep operations running smoothly every day, thanks to minimized downtime compared with diesel. You can count on propane autogas to perform every time. In regions with especially cold winters, propane autogas buses are trusted for superior performance — districts report the buses “start right up” no matter the weather, eliminating the need for cold start crews.

  • Minimize unexpected downtime for repairs.
  • Superior cold weather performance.

NO MORE BLACK SMOKE

With propane autogas, school districts are providing healthier environments for students, drivers, and their neighborhoods by substantially reducing tailpipe emissions.

Type A Buses:
  • 5% fewer NOx emissions than diesel.
  • 15% fewer NOx emissions than gasoline.
  • 12% fewer GHG emissions than gasoline.
  • 38% fewer SOx emissions than gasoline.
Type C Buses:
  • 15% fewer NOx emissions than diesel.
  • 24% fewer NOx emissions than gasoline.
  • 6% fewer GHG emissions than diesel.
  • 21% fewer GHG emissions than gasoline.
  • 44% fewer SOx emissions than gasoline.

RENEWABLE PROPANE INNOVATIONS

There are significant environmental benefits to be gained from renewable propane. It’s most commonly produced as a co-product of renewable diesel production or from renewable liquid fuels from animal fats. This fuel offers the same clean, efficient, reliable performance as conventional propane, with about half the carbon intensity value. EPA Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS) also include renewable propane pathways.

Propane autogas vs clean diesel

Propane autogas significantly reduces NOx emissions. In real world testing conducted by the WVU, propane buses cut emissions by 96 percent compared with clean diesel buses.

AFFORDABLE INFRASTRUCTURE

Some school districts elect not to use an alternative fuel — like CNG and electric — because of expensive infrastructure. Propane autogas is different, providing scalable options to fit any size budget. Even better, quick-connect nozzles reduce the time required for refueling and provide an increased level of safety, eliminating the need for personal protective equipment.

SAFER FOR EVERYONE

Not only are the buses equipped with all industry-standard safety features,
the noticeably quieter operation of propane autogas powers peace of mind for parents, educators, students, and drivers. With a quieter bus, drivers can pay better attention to the road, listening for emergency vehicles. Many drivers also report a more pleasant work environment because passengers don’t have to talk so loud.

  • Noticeably quieter operation than diesel.
  • More pleasant journey for everyone.
