Gokul Vishwanathan, Ph.D

Director of Research and Sustainability

Dr. Gokul Vishwanathan is a member of PERC’s Business Development Team. He is a mechanical engineer in training and practice. Gokul leads PERC initiatives to grow propane demand through research, technology development, and sustainability programs. He works with research partners (Universities, National Laboratories, Private Laboratories etc.), as well as colleagues in the propane industry, allied industries, and government agencies to advance propane technologies. He leads the industry’s research initiatives providing support and guidance to technology development projects and analyses to position propane as a sustainable energy solution. He is also a technical scout for emerging energy technologies.

Prior to this role at PERC, he worked at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he supported the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) and the Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) branch of the  Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) agency as a technical adviser and subject matter expert in connected and automated vehicles, internal combustion engine and hybrid electric powertrain development, combined heat and power, thermal energy storage and carbon capture technologies.

Before working at Booz Allen Hamilton, Gokul was a technical specialist at Cummins, leading medium-duty and heavy-duty diesel engine development work and developing fuel and air-path calibration mechanisms for diesel engines.
