Getting the appliances right can go a long way toward designing a kitchen that will wow your client or prospective buyer. In Green Home Builder magazine, Bryan Cordill explains why cooking equipment powered by propane deserves a spot in a dream kitchen. First off: performance that meets the expectations of both home and professional chefs.
“Many homeowners treat the kitchen as a gathering place for guests and, therefore, are looking to recreate the look and feel of a high-end designer kitchen,” says Cordill, director of residential and commercial business development at the Propane Education & Research Council. “High-performance gas ranges, stoves, and ovens provide absolute heat control and instant on or off features — a few reasons why 96 percent of professional chefs prefer cooking with gas. Gas cooking appliances have been long used in commercial settings, but their benefits make them commonplace in many homes, too.”
Cordill covers energy efficiency, carbon footprint, and style in his analysis, but he also points out that builders can benefit from financial incentives or rebates for incorporating propane. “Propane cooking equipment in combination with water heating and other propane systems makes projects eligible for the Propane Construction Incentive Program, offering up to $1,500 per home project,” Cordill says.
