After federal lawmakers voted earlier this year to reinstate tax credits for geothermal heat pumps, HVAC contractors are on the hunt for builders and homeowners looking to take advantage of the savings. That’s according to ACHR News, which asked contractors what their customers want most from geothermal. Although lower energy costs and consumption over time are the biggest drivers, customers have lingering questions about the systems’ high first costs, excavation needs, and uncertain payback period.
Hybrid heating systems can help. Pairing a high-efficiency propane furnace or boiler with a ground source (geothermal) heat pump for space and water heating applications can reduce the amount of geothermal tubing needed, lower first costs, and ensure occupants are comfortable year-round. Learn more about how propane can be used for hybrid space and water heating systems.
