Builder checks in on the latest “Electric Sales, Revenue, and Average Price” report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and finds that “the average price of electricity to ultimate residential customers [nationally] recorded for May 2014 is the highest recorded for any month in the past two years, and increased 3.4% year-over-year.” Hawaii, New York, Connecticut, Alaska, and Vermont had the highest electric rates. Propane systems and appliances can be a particularly beneficial upgrade in areas with high electric rates, so if you’re working on a project in one of those five states, be sure to remind your customers that electricity isn’t their only option.
