Tankless water heaters can do a lot, from offering endless domestic hot water on demand to eliminating the standby losses of a storage tank water heater. Bosch Thermotechnology aims to add space heating to that list as well with the Bosch Hydronic Air Handler. Designed specifically to connect with the manufacturer’s Greentherm tankless water heater, the air handler uses the tankless water heater’s highly efficient hot water as a heat source, transferring it through a hydronic heating coil. “The unit can replace furnaces with a ducted system, the company says, eliminating the need for a gas pipe, venting, and fresh air intake required for furnaces,” reports Jenn Goodman at Builder. By using efficient tankless units for both water heating and space heating, builders can maximize the efficiency of both.
