For the third year in a row, PERC is recognizing school districts for committing to providing a safer, healthier ride for students, saving money, and reducing harmful emissions by switching to propane autogas school buses. The 2017 Back-to-School campaign will visit Elk Grove Unified School District (Sacramento) and Humble ISD (near Houston) with a donation through AdoptAClassroom.org and will bring back journalist and former teacher Jenna Bush Hager for a national media tour.
The campaign began in 2015 after PERC noticed a growing trend among schools in transitioning from diesel buses to propane autogas. In fact, propane autogas bus registrations increased ten percent in 2016 alone. For the past two years, PERC also partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org to provide donations to teachers in select school districts using propane autogas.
